NIKE

I got some awesome news yesterday. A long time ago, probably 8 months ago, my friend told her father about my work. Her father is a sales representative for Nike. I met him at a parents weekend at our school. He saw a pair of sneakers I did, and he said he would help me out. Being a sales rep, he was very busy all the time. The offer was nice enough, but he e-mailed me yesterday. He told me he sent me a pair of white on white air force ones for me to do. Along with this he said he is going to a meeting at the Nike headquarters in June. He promised me that he would wear the sneakers to the meeting on June 5th. He also said that by the end of the meeting the members of Nike activewear will know who I am. I am, to say the least, HYPED. Wish me luck.

KIMBO

OVERVIEW:
Kimbo has been my nickname since as long as I can remember. At this point in time, I have been customizing sneakers for people and currently am moving onto other clothes. I started graffiti-ing shoes about three years ago. I am located in NYC, but going to school in DC. To the right, are an example of my style. My inspiration comes from designers such as Marc Ecko and Ed Hardy. My style of customizing is a little different than the typical customizing of sneakers, I graffiti the entire shoe instead of dividing it into sections. I have done all types of shoes from high heels to slip ons to running shoes. The most popular shoe is the Air Force One. Here are some pictures of the shoes I have done:
Recently I have been moving away from shoes, and selling hats. They are being sold over facebook on the group called "Kimbo K!ckz" They are not custom made. There are 24 and they range in colors and shades. They are all hand drawn with a combination of airbrush, paint and permanent markers. The hats are all in the trucker hat style, varying from white mesh with a black from and vice versa. I also have done various miscellaneous items that people have come up with, for example, backpacks, hoodies, tshirts etc.
With these items, it would travel by word of mouth and by seeing people walk around with different items such as these. At the moment, I am working on designing T-shirts on the computer. This is a little different than what I am used to but I am really determined to figure it out without any formal training, I hope it works. I need to come up with four T-shirt designs which I think I am going to expand from the usual graffiti style. I have done all different types of art from oil painting to charcoal drawing. I want to fuse different styles together. I am a very eclectic person, and I want the T-shirts to exemplify that. Once I finish these designs, I am going to get them printed up through a friend. Also, I am on summer vacation, so I have time to complete shoes, design and work. My next move is to go down to the Nike ID Studio in Midtown of Manhattan, just for the hell of it. Who knows what will happen. I love organized chaos, my thoughts are always jumbled, and I try to accomplish as much as possible as fast as possible. I will keep you updated!
